Our Genesis The Fixed Income Investor Network (FIIN) officially took root in September 2018, springing from the collective insight of the IMN’s ABS East Advisory Board of Investors. Tasked with shaping the event's content, the Board envisioned an investor-focused association uniquely poised to invigorate the Structured Finance sector. Distinct from other associations with broader scopes, FIIN stands as the exclusive investor-centric body in the marketplace, dedicated to fostering open dialogue, enhancing transparency, and facilitating efficient capital movement.
Our Mission FIIN serves as the vanguard for investor-led initiatives within the structured finance markets. We are steadfast in providing our members with robust networking opportunities, comprehensive educational resources, and a powerful advocacy platform. Our mission is threefold:
1. To forge connections and nurture a collaborative community among investors.
2. To champion investor interests through informed advocacy on key industry developments.
3. Our collective goal is to cultivate a well-oiled marketplace where investors have a significant say, driving consensus on pivotal matters and, where necessary, channeling that consensus into action.
Education
As an independent association representing investors, FIIN is dedicated to delivering structured finance content that is unbiased, credible, and informative. To support this mission, FIIN created the FIIN Education Committee, which is led by industry professionals with significant experience in training within the sector. This committee works closely with FIIN's task forces and other committees to develop practical, forward-looking programming for investors of all experience levels. The content is offered in various interactive and self-study formats.
FIIN's primary objective is to enhance market education, with almost all of its outputs focused on educational initiatives. These include events, advocacy, networking, and, most notably, FIIN’s certification program.
In early 2025, FIIN will launch the beta version of its structured finance certification, provisionally named FIIN Structured Finance Specialist - FIIN-SPS. This certification aims to establish a new standard of expertise within the industry, addressing two major gaps in financial education:
Advocacy, the art of championing a cause, remains a cornerstone of our identity. Though not lobbyists, our strength lies in our impartial investor perspective, often sought by industry trade associations. Unlike others who may present a fragmented stance, FIIN embodies the genuine investor viewpoint, ensuring all voices within our diverse community are heard. Representing a formidable coalition of over 240 entities, from insurance firms to pension advisors, we strive for a balanced dialogue that shapes the pressing issues of our industry.
